Anna Bampou

My interest in counselling was sparked by my own experience of having counselling in my early 20’s. As a result, I experienced personal transformation and growth in all areas of my life. This created a real passion and interest for me to become a counsellor, strongly believing that with the right professional support and care, I can help others too to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives.

Before I professionally trained to be a counsellor, I obtained a BA in English Literature and worked as an English teacher.

In 2005, I qualified as an integrative counsellor working with adults and I have since worked in a variety of counselling roles within different health care settings, including charity and community organisations, prison based settings, and the private sector. My skills include one-to-one counselling sessions, family and couples counselling sessions, group therapy facilitation and delivery of a variety of psychoeducational lectures and experiential workshops/training.

In 2015, my new role as a mother inspired me to re-train in counselling children and young people. Since then I worked as a school counsellor for both primary and secondary schools and in private practice on a one to one basis, helping children and young people with various challenges and difficulties through using talking therapy, creative work and therapeutic play.

More recently, in 2019, as part of my personal and professional development and in line with my career continuation, I pursued further training and qualified as a clinical supervisor. I since work and offer one to one and group supervision to counsellors(in training and qualified) and health care or allied professionals both in my private practice and as an external contractor for private, statuary and non-statuary organisations on a one to one and group basis.

In 2021, I also begun working as a Lecturer in Counselling teaching at Guildford College, on the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Theory and Skills and the FDSC in Counselling. I undertook training to become a teacher and trainer. I have found this role as tutor a useful addition to my skills set as a counsellor and as a supervisor; I thoroughly enjoy journeying alongside all trainee counsellors and contributing with my experience and heart in their personal and professional training and development.

I have regular monthly supervision to ensure my work is safe, competent, ethical and professional and I attend professional training, workshops and events to ensure that I enhance and keep my personal and professional development current. I am a registered member of BACP and I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am also registered with the ICO, I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate and a full indemnity insurance.

So far, I have been privileged in my life, both as a counsellor and a clinical supervisor, to work with many wonderful people from different walks of life and ages. This has been a great opportunity to gain a great depth and breadth of experience both professionally and personally.
